Obituary of Lilly Ingutti
On October 17th 2023, I said goodbye to my best friend Lilly. She was surrounded by her family and friends.
Lilly was surrendered to Rochester Animal Services with a broken leg in October 2012. She was transferred to Lollypop Farm for amputation on October 14th, 2012. It was there in the clinic, laying on a heating pad and cuddling with a kitten, where I met her. I quickly offered to foster her while she healed, though no one had asked and I had never fostered a dog before. In my heart, I knew I had to do whatever I could to take her home.
I first introduced Lilly to my family as my “foster puppy”, but quickly told my friends that it was a white lie. The adoption paperwork was completed in January 2013, well after the decision had been made
Lilly was a constant companion to me for almost exactly 11 years. We moved to different apartments in different states, and eventually I got to tell her “Lilly, I bought you a house!” (which was indeed the case). Lilly helped raise and care for many foster pups in her home, including most recently her brother Pablo (aka Squeebs). Lilly loved swimming, meeting (and barking at) new friends, barking at both her friends & nemeses from her yard, eating carrots from the garden, getting ear cleanings from her brother, and spending time outside.
Knowing and loving Lilly has forever changed me. If you knew Lilly, I want to thank you for loving her too.
Love, Rachel
